MEET DEVON

VERITAS BIOACTIVES FOUNDER + CEO

THE ORIGIN story of Veritas Bioactives began in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, Texas. Due to a rare condition known as twin to twin transfusion syndrome, founder Devon Perry’s son was born at just 27 weeks and weighed a paltry 2.5 pounds. (His twin’s heart had stopped beating 4 days prior)

His odds of survival were anything but stacked in the child’s favor, but 11 weeks after he was ushered into the world, Devon crossed the threshold of the hospital exit with her son in her arms, alive and well.

It was a group effort and a monumental victory of will and of love, and today Devon’s son is thriving, living a happy, healthy and normal life. But the road to recovery wasn’t without its obstacles.

Since 2006, Devon has both owned and operated a string of successful medspas AND served as an educator to physicians and aestheticians. Devon is known as a go-to thought leader on skin care topics ranging from Ingredient Science, to Chemical Peeling, to the Utilization of Multi-Modalities for Global Correction.

Devon has a passion for educating, and continues to provides education credits to aestheticians in Texas through the State Board of Cosmetology. In 2010, Devon opened her first Austin, TX-based medical spa, and in 2012, she launched her own line of cosmeceutical skin care products, Veritas Bioactives.

LEADING THE INDUSTRY

Devon pioneered stem-cell facial service protocols while working corroboratively with scientists, engineers, and Dr. David Karli, Orthopedic Surgeon from The Steadman Clinic for Celling Biosciences in 2015.

In 2017, she launched Veritas Backstage, the first Beauty and Regenerative Medicine Institute under one roof.

For optimal results with your skincare products, always follow this product usage roadmap:

1) Remove Your Makeup
You must start with a blank canvas if you want your skin to enjoy the full effects of your skincare.

2) Cleanse
This step ensures that your pores are cleaned, prepped and ready to allow deep product penetration.

3) Active Products
For all products you use post-cleanse, apply them in order from the thinnest to the thickest.

Don’t pick that pimple! Any ejected pus, sebum, or grime can easily seep into other pores, leading to further breakouts. And, unless you're trained as an aesthetician, the damage incurred from the popping will likely remain on your skin much longer than if you had simply left your pimple alone.

Exfoliate, but don’t overdo it! The secret weapon to perfect skin = exfoliation in moderation. Exfoliating 2-3 times a week with a physical scrub that has lactic acid is a perfect way to achieve beautiful skin.

Did you know? After UV exposure, the second leading cause of wrinkles is sleeping! epeatedly squishing your head into your pillow night after night promotes collagen breakdown. As much as possible, we recommend positioning your head so the lower half of your face never touches your pillow. Or even better, sleep on your back!

Nighttime is the right time for upping your self care game. Derms agree that the skin repairs itself overnight, so products with active ingredients and thick moisturizers are best used in the evening. Before bed (or when you get home from work), do a double cleanse, exfoliation (2-3 times a week), add a toner or mask, and finish with a night cream.
